Hi, I’m Jai Lunkad, the founder of Cielo, an app designed to help you build your community and find the people you'd actually vibe with. I thought it was stupidly hard meeting people when you're neew to a city or just wanna branch out. I did not wanna go to a bar and talk to a random 60 year old man. I didn't wanna go to a community cleanup or Volo game, I literally just wanted people to do stuff l really like - Skiing, Music, Wine, Travelling

Growing up all over the world, I’ve had to move a lot, and through that, I learned how to quickly make friends and build communities. But when I moved to the U.S., I realized it wasn’t as easy. When I first landed in San Francisco a year ago, I knew no one. I was lucky enough to make two great friends early on, and that sparked an idea. I thought my friends were cool, and they probably had their own set of cool friends(I really just got super lucky with that). I started hosting +1 dinners at my house — inviting my friends and asking them to bring someone new.

These small, intimate gatherings created a space for people to connect easily and genuinely. The community grew so fast that I eventually began organizing dinners for others, without even attending myself! The impact was clear—people craved real connections, and the idea quickly snowballed into Cielo.

Cielo was born from a simple truth: building meaningful relationships in a new city doesn’t have to take months or years. It can happen over a shared experience with people who, like you, are looking to connect. We’ve evolved from those dinners to a platform where you can join niche, intimate gatherings with 2-6 people—whether it’s a jazz night, wine tasting, or cultural outing. We keep it small to foster deeper connections, and through that, you know if you've met people you'd like to keep around. Truly, its just a numbers game, meet more people, get beetter at having conversations and surround yourself with the people you want.
